Documentary Films on Oman

Since the founding of the company ARABIA FELIX Synform GmbH, we have repeatedly participated in the production of documentary films on various topics of Oman.

In the year 2000, three documentaries about Oman, from a touristic point of view, were commissioned by the Bavarian Radio for the series "Wanderlust" ("Fernweh") in cooperation with the filmmaker and Grimme Award winner Wolfgang Ettlich.

There then followed in 2010 the two documentaries with the same director -- "Religious Tolerance in Oman" and "Islamic Art in Oman" -- on behalf of the Ministry of Religious Endowments and Religious Affairs in Muscat. The film about the peaceful coexistence of religious communities in Oman has so far been translated into 23 languages and is distributed worldwide in conjunction with the exhibition project "Tolerance, Understanding, Coexistence: Oman's Message of Islam."

In 2012, work began on the first comprehensive documentation of the moving history of the Sultanate of Oman with interviews of internationally renowned experts, filmed on original locations, with some scene staged as historical re-enactments. This was commissioned by the Bidiyah Library Cultural Foundation and the German University of Technology (GUtech). This documentary in three parts entitled "The Sons of Sindbad," produced for Oman and international television, was directed by Friedrich Klütsch. Scriptwriters were Juma Al-Maskari, Friedrich Klütsch and Georg Popp. The films were completed in 2017, with three language versions: English, German and Arabic. This film production has received several international awards.
