Discover the highlights of Kyrgyzstan on a round trip with an English-speaking tour guide: From the capital Bishkek, we first head east to Cholpon Ata on the northern shore of the Kyrgyz Sea, Lake Issyk-Kul, with detours to the Burana Tower (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the valley of the Chong Ak-Suu and the village of Red Front, founded by German Mennonites.
In Karakol on the western shore of Lake Issyk-Kul, we will visit the unique mosque of the Dungan people, who immigrated here from China in the mid-19th century, as well as the imposing Orthodox church.
The onward journey takes us along the sparsely populated southern shore of the huge Lake Issyk-Kul to the surreal-looking Skaska Canyon with its colourful, bizarre rock formations. We visit yurt builders and learn about the ancient Kyrgyz tradition of hunting with eagles, an intangible UNESCO World Heritage Site in Kyrgyzstan.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Tash Rabat was probably once a Silk Road caravanserai and before that, a Nestorian monastery. It is located at an altitude of 3000 metres in a beautiful, secluded, gentle mountain landscape just a few kilometres from the Chinese border.
We then return to the capital Bishkek via Kochkor.
